Big Apple Rec Sports is excited to announce we are making a staged return to our social sports leagues. We will be approaching our upcoming seasons with a focus on the safety of our community. Many of our leagues will look and feel different than before, but our core values of inclusiveness, sportsmanship, and community will remain the same.

New York State and New York City has allowed for the reopening of sports leagues with guidelines to help protect players. We are committed to meet and exceed all requirements and recommendations for COVID-19 safety precautions set out by the public health officials of the Centers for Disease Control, New York State’s Department of health, and New York City's Department of Health.

We will be reopening our sports in phases, with our first phase focusing on our outdoor sports with the ability to adequately socially distance - Kickball.

Kickball:

Kickball will be returning this spring!

New York City is in the process of issuing permits for spring field spaces. Big Apple Kickball will be the first to return with our Saturday League. Our Tuesday field is not quite ready for play yet as the city is doing repairs and enhancing the lights this spring. We expect to have updates regarding our Tuesday League soon.

Bowling:

While bowling alleys are currently allowed to be open with reduced capacity, we currently see inside activities as higher risk due to limited ventilation. While bowling may be a safe activity for families and households to do with each other, we still worry about the risk of bringing so many different households together inside. We love bowling and hope to get back to it as soon as possible.

Dodgeball:

Currently, NYC’s Recreation Centers are closed. Our normal center, the beloved “Tony D”, has been transformed into classrooms for remote learning. We continue to look for other ways to bring back dodgeball in a fun and safe way. Stay tuned for announcements regarding dodgeball’s reopening.

As always, please stay safe, wear your masks, and practice social distancing.

We’re all in this together.
