Meet Dodgeballer of the Week Aaron W
His friendliness is so bright, it’d be impossible to throw shade at him. Meet fun-loving, optimistic Dodgeballer of the Week Aaron!
What was your favorite team photo?
My second season I was on Team Stonewall and we did a Buzby Berkeley-esque photo. Team Splash's "Mermaid Dancing" photo is a close second!
What's your advice to newcomers next season?
First, you have to put yourself out there. There are amazing people in the league, but you have to make an effort to get to know them. The second piece of advice is that it's okay not to get along with everyone. There are 180 people in the league, many of whom have strong personalities. Don't make enemies, but it's okay if there are some people that you just don't click with. Find the people that you think are awesome and focus on them! You're a trained dancer. What's your favorite type of dance? If we are talking about watching, I love the work of European modern dance choreographers. If you ever get a chance, three names that stick out for me are Compagnie Maguy Marin, Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, and the William Forsythe Company. They usually perform at BAM in NYC.
What's the best song you ever danced to?
It was a Peaches medley. I can't remember all three songs, but XXX was in there. It doesn't hurt that I was wearing pink short shorts and a feather boa! You have retail experience.
What's the craziest thing that's ever happened to you with a customer?
This isn't my customer, but it's my favorite story is when a customer came in with a shattered phone. He claimed that he dropped it from three inches onto carpet. My friend proceeded to pull out his iPhone, slam it against the genius bar five times, and show him that it didn't even have a crack in it. Amazing!
